Brookwater Retaining Wall

Project Overview

JC Engineers was engaged to deliver the full structural design for a proposed retaining wall at a residential property. The client required engineering support to understand the site conditions, confirm soil capacity and develop a safe, compliant design for the new retaining wall. This project included on-site assessment, soil testing, structural design and engineering certification to support construction and approval requirements.

To commence the engagement, several assumptions were made. Safe access to the site would be required at the time of inspection. No geotechnical information had been provided, so soil testing was included in the scope to support the structural analysis. Existing documentation relating to the retaining wall was to be provided at the start of the project, along with written confirmation of the proposed building materials.

Scope of Works

Our services included a site inspection to document current conditions and gather information required for structural analysis. Soil testing and a geotechnical report were also undertaken to determine ground strength, footing requirements and drainage considerations. The team then completed the full structural design of the proposed retaining wall, including the wall structure, footing details and drainage components, in accordance with industry standards and regulations.

All engineering drafting was delivered in two stages, beginning with a draft set of drawings for client review, followed by a finalised version suitable for construction and approvals. A Form 15 Engineering Certificate was issued for the retaining wall design in line with Queensland requirements. Items excluded from this engagement included construction inspections, installation certification, planning application support and the design of any unrelated structures such as pools, fencing or balustrades. These services can be provided separately if required.

The result is a complete structural design package that equips the client with everything needed for accurate construction and approval of the retaining wall.
